Work Force Development Initiatives – WEP participates as a member of the Wilson County Work Force Development Task Force, a network of agencies and companies that collaborate to promote and implement new ideas that will increase the high school graduation rate, improve soft and technical skills of the local workforce and provide on-going training necessary to compete in the global market. WEP was instrumental in planning and coordinating the first CTE Day at Wilson Mall for 950 8th grade students.
Principal & Teacher of the Year – WEP presents cash awards to the winners. All nominees are recognized at a banquet co-sponsored by WEP and the school system.
New Teacher Orientation – At the beginning of each school year, WEP assists in welcoming new employees to Wilson by sponsoring a Community Fair to introduce teachers to local organizations that offer classroom support.
Classroom Support – WEP serves as a catalyst and conduit for private foundations, corporate foundations and civic groups to contribute designated funds that support curriculum and equipment needs in schools.
Business Education Summit – WEP convenes business and school leaders to discuss common issues and learn from each other with an agenda of improving and enhancing education in Wilson County. The most recent Summit conversations focused on high school reform and preparing future ready students.
