Career Day
Career Days at Wilson Mall
More than 900 eighth-grade students from all middle schools participated in Career Days at Wilson Mall in November. An initiative of the Wilson County Workforce Development Committee, the two-day event brought together a variety of companies and agencies to help the students with career planning and preparation for high school.
Students rotated through presentations from Wilson Community College faculty about areas of study and career options . They learned about local companies from career fair displays. Students spent time in conversation about specific jobs as they visited small group discussions with employees representing careers from the high school academy focus areas. More than 150 representatives from 35 businesses helped introduce our students to the world of work.
Sponsors included Wilson County Schools, Wilson Community College, the Wilson Education Partnership, the Wilson Chamber of Commerce, Wilson Mall, Carmike Cinemas and Bridgestone.
